COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find answers to our most commonly asked questions. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact our team.

Pricing & Costs

Yes, always. We will never carry out any work on your vehicle without your prior approval. Once we have assessed the issue, we will provide you with a clear, itemised quotation so you know exactly what to expect.

Transparency is one of our core values. The price we quote is the price you pay. If anything unexpected arises during the work, we will contact you immediately to discuss your options before proceeding.

A diagnostic fee may apply depending on the complexity of the fault. We will always let you know upfront if there is a charge, and in most cases the diagnostic cost is included in the overall repair quote if you choose to proceed with us.

Booking & Appointments

You can book by calling us directly or by using our contact form on this website. We will confirm your appointment and advise on expected timescales as soon as possible.

It depends on the service required. For MOTs and routine servicing, we recommend booking at least a few days in advance. For urgent repairs, please call us and we will do our best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.

Yes, you are welcome to wait on site for shorter jobs. For more extensive work, we will advise you of an estimated completion time and contact you as soon as your vehicle is ready for collection.

MOT

Any vehicle over three years old requires a valid MOT certificate to be driven legally on UK roads. Driving without a valid MOT can result in a fine and penalty points on your licence.

A standard MOT test typically takes between 45 minutes and one hour. If any additional repair work is required following the test, timescales will vary depending on the nature of the work needed.

We will provide you with a clear explanation of the items that caused the failure. You can choose to have the remedial work carried out by us, or take your vehicle elsewhere. We offer competitive rates for MOT failure repairs.

An advisory means the item is not yet serious enough to cause a failure but should be monitored and addressed. We recommend having advisory items inspected and rectified promptly to avoid them becoming more serious over time.

Repairs & Servicing

We work on a wide range of vehicles including cars, vans, and light commercial vehicles. We handle both petrol and diesel engines across most makes and models. If you are unsure, please give us a call.

Wherever it is safe and cost-effective to do so, yes. We will always let you know if a repair is a viable alternative to replacement, along with the respective costs, so you can make an informed decision.

Most manufacturers recommend a service every 12 months or every 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you are unsure, bring your vehicle in and we can advise you based on its current condition and service history.

Tyres

The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre. Signs such as cracks, bulges, or uneven wear are also indicators that your tyres should be inspected as soon as possible.

We stock a range of tyres to suit all budgets, from reliable everyday options to premium performance and seasonal tyres. Our team will help you find the right tyre for your vehicle and driving needs.

In many cases, a puncture can be safely repaired at a fraction of the cost of a new tyre. We will assess the damage and advise you honestly on whether a repair is appropriate or whether replacement is the safer option.
